Dear Bryce

It's here, your wedding day, a day of faith, hope and love. A day of beautiful memories for you and Monica. But I want to share with you how much the memories of you growing up I treasure and smile each time I remember.

When you were born and the doctor said it was a boy, I don't think your dad's feet touched the ground for days, after that announcement. You were the most precious baby with your curly hair and dimples. Who can forget cheeseballs, Sodie, corn street, cleaning the inners out of pumpkins and you said"EWW that is gross at 3. When Great Gram would take you out to eat with her friends, and you said these rolls are delicious. All the plays you did. The purple man, you were a ham. You were so good in all of them and every time you were on stage my heart swelled with pride watching you. I have always wanted to do that, so I admired your courage, talent, voice and all the fun you had with your friends, it was so great to be apart of that. I think the one your dad might treasures is your match at districts and how you fought to come back to wrestle one more match. These are only a few of the many memories I will treasure of you growing up, but now it is time for you to make memories with Monica, as husband and wife.

You two have been through a lot in the past 6 months with buying a house and a new job and survived, which is proof how a good, solid, strong and loving your relationship can endure life's curve balls. "Faith, plants the seeds. Love makes it grow" Monica is a good woman and she sees what a caring, compassionate, funny, wonderful, honest, hardworking, kind and loving husband you will be, but most importantly what a great friendship you will have together. With an added bonus, Monica gets you. So, Monica and Bryce enjoy your day, and remember " There is no limit to love's forbearance, to its trust, its hope. its power to endure". Wonderful Vacation

Our vacation is over. It has been the most fun and relaxing trip ever. Most importantly I feel so satisfied that we were able to give Shaina and Jonathan a beautiful and memorable wedding day. I know I am the mother but it was truly a wonderful day, Yes it was hot but we had a nice breeze on the beach. When you saw Shaina and Jonathan together and how they smiled at each other, nothing else mattered. My heart just melted with love for them both. Shaina and Jonathan had every detail taken care of. They picked out the most beautiful songs that expressed their love for each other. As a mom you couldn't of envisioned it any better. It was a day filled with love and happiness. Shaina surprised me and ask that both Jude and I walk her to Jonathan and then Greg (Jonathan's dad) asked that we sit together as parents. Our two families have blended so well together and that is all because of Shai and Jonathan. I have to say we had a wonderful party. It was so great, we had our friends and family from Ohio, Miriam's family from England (four), Canada, friends and family from Wichita, Louisiana, wedding party from Canada, and we ate and danced until 11:30 and then met up at the bar afterwards for drinks. Everyone enjoyed and lived in that moment like we were all old friends. It was the most amazing and wonderful day ever!! Shaina and Jonathan's wedding day has finally arrived and I am filled with such emotion and it keeps spilling out down my cheeks. Jonathan pulled me aside and told me how he is so excited and happy he is to marry our daughter. So please remember, it is tears of pure joy and I have alot of joy coming out of these eyes. Here is one quote that helps explain what I see when Jonathan looks at our Shaina:

"A women wishes to be loved, not because they are pretty, or good, or well bred, or graceful, or intelligent, but because they are themselves".

Jonathan "gets" Shaina. It is an amazing thing to observe the simplest of interactions between them. Jonathan is very nurturing, respectful, loving, reassuring, kind, supportive and everything else you would wish for your daughters happiness. Today we do not lose our daughter, we gain another son and witness our daughter, giving her heart to the man she adores and loves. My heart swells with love and pride for them both.

Today will be Jonathan and Shai's special day. Jude and I plan on enjoying and savoring every special moment the day will bring. Thank you everyone for all your thoughts, wishes and love you send our way.

A new address

Finally, we are in our new home in Cold Creek Crossing. It is beautiful and has lots of room. We have been constantly busy every night running errands, moving, buying household items, packing and unpacking . We have 3 bedrooms, 3 baths, a full finished basement. It is very roomy. so we are official empty nesters living on our own. Jack and Zoey are adjusting. I think they think like me. I keep questioning myself, is this real? Are you sure your not at a hotel? I have a nice neighborhood to walk in, but on Tuesday morning, Zoey spotted the coyote in the neighborhood and he was watching and following us. Needless to say we went straight home. Everything was well with the wait.

7 days till we see Shaina and Jonathan. I can hardly wait to see them. Things seem to be falling into place. I picked up my dress tonight and I really like it. It is turquoise, my grams favorite color. My sister, Rick, Mom& Roger. Jude, Bryce, Monica and I will be staying for a week after the wedding in a house my sister rented. Shai and Jonathan are staying longer so they can visit with Jonathan's family and us. Good times in Florida.

2 days and school is out for the summer. It has been a good year and next year will prove to be a very exciting adventure for the teachers and students. Until then I need to be done to get ready for the first wedding.

Jude is having a second procedure on his back this Thursday. It will b more medicine, and cauterizing a nerve. WE are getting him in shape to walk Shai down the isle at the beach.

Waiting is the hardest part

Waiting.... still waiting for FEMA to clear our condo in Cold Creek Crossing. The word from the realtor was they meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays and our condo was on the agenda for Tuesday 5/19. Well apparently NOT. So we continue to wait.

Shaina and Jonathan were waiting for a transmission and repair for over a week, but finally got everything fixed and left for Georgia on Friday 5/22. They are in Georgia staying with Greg & Miriam until the paper work gets finished up for their house. There seems to be a theme here.

Bryce and Monica are working on their house and are making progress. Putting up some drywall, fixing things that come as a surprise after a house that has been unoccupied for a while and replacing a hot water tank. They are waiting for their windows to get installed and the inspector to check what has been done so far.

Most importantly waiting for the first wedding of the summer. It is so exciting. We have been making all the last minute adjustments and plans. This makes me more anxious for it to happen. We have not seen Shai and Jonathan since December. WE just hope we have the time to sit around and visit with them during the time we are together. I just tried on my M.O.B dress and it is perfect aqua dress and very simple. Simple is good. My opinion. My gram would really love it. I choose this color for her. It is my way of having her apart of Shai's wedding day and i know she will be with us. Remember Shai's middle name is Allydia after her. Gram was a very special lady and we miss her very much.

I am now a Delicious member. I am still learning how to get around the site and how to use it. It was fun putting all the sites I have in one place. Since Perkins is moving quickly into more technology I have made it my mission to collect as many sites to help me learn more about technology. One thing I have found, teachers like to share their ideas. I love teaching.

Still waiting on the condo. Patience is a virtue.

If you haven't heard Bryce and Mon have bought a house on Fifth St. They have a lot to do, but they have the time to do it they way want it. They are moving a pretty good pace. It is going to be very nice and they have a yard for Cami.

Shai and Jonathan are still in Shreveport, awaiting to hear about their house. It is very beautiful with a big yard and close to her wonderful in-laws. Plus a room for Jude and I to visit. Now that is what I am talking about.

Holding Pattern

Jude and I are in a holding pattern. You may or may not know, but recently Sandusky had a new map made for flood planes. We were told by our banks surveyor, the condo is in a flood plane. The people(bank) selling the condo say they are not. They told us they would pay the flood insurance, so we could go ahead with the sale and then prove it is not. Jude and I say "No, you prove we are not in the flood plane, then we buy." We do not want to buy in a flood plane: #1 flood insurance is anywhere between $1200 to #1500 a year, that is triple the normal amount of house insurance. #2 What if we ever sold, who is going to buy in a flood plane. We are waiting for them to contact FEMA and prove it is not in the flood plane. That is our story. I knew once I told people about the condo, I jinxed us.

Other updates: I am traveling to Kentucky next weekend to a STEM conference for school. On April 16th - 19th, I am going to traveling to Johnstown, Iowa, to an Apple one to one training. Perkins is progressively pursuing lots of innovative plans for the district. The teachers have to be ready to embrace the challenge and gather lots of information. I am really excited about these opportunities.

We had the Jr. High State Wrestling tournament this past weekend. It was a long for the workers but a great weekend of wrestling. Jude has done a great job in planning this event. I am so proud of him. He has put lots of time into his job and made sure all the t's were crossed and i's were dotted. These events have shown growth from last year to this year, all due to Jude's behind the scenes work. We now have grade school this weekend and we will travel back to Marion for round two.

Shai and Jonathan are great. Jonathan's team has earned a spot in the CHL playoffs. We are all getting excited about the wedding and invites should be in the mail real soon.

Bryce and Monica have made changes to the wedding planning and have some things in the works, which is theirs to tell.

New beginnings

It has been a busy month for Jude and I. First we put a bid on a condo and have been negotiating for 2 weeks and have come up with a good price for us. So the dream for us has finally come true we are now moving into a condo. Kyle and Cindy will now have some new neighbors. Our condo is located back in the Cold Creek Crossing development, not to far from Tofts (YUM). There is only four condos back in this development, so we have lots of room. Our new home has 3 bedrooms, laundry room off the kitchen (YEAH!!), full finished basement, lots of storage, central vac, the kitchen has all the appliances, and 3 bathrooms. We now have a two car garage. We are very exited and the closing will be very soon. Our house on Carr is going up on the market today. Jill said the sign will go up today. We leave behind a home that gave us many wonderful memories for our family and it will always hold special place in hearts. Bryce and Monica, Shaina and Jonathan are moving on with their lives and so must the parents, new beginnings for us all.

It has been a long time since I posted. School has been keeping me busy, then I am just tired when I get home. It seems Feb. is going to bring lots of meetings and then IEP's (Indiviual Educational Plans) need to be written and meeting with parents. Plus add to that weddings in the summer. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Jude is very busy with wrestling. He has been gone the last two weekends at various sectional tournaments associated with the junior high and grade school tournament circuit. He loves every minute of it.

Jude and I have been involved with Lifeteen. This is a high school youth group sponsored by all three parishes. It has been a very rewarding experience. You can come to the mass at 5:00pm held at Holy Angles every Sunday night. Please do, the mass is open to everyone. Our youth group meets after mass. The music at this mass is great. You are surround by kids who enjoy mass and hanging with Father Dave, it is just the best faith experience.

Bryce and Monica have been working on some wedding stuff. they will be married at St. Mary's and the reception will be in Lorain at Delucas. They will be meeting with Father Dave real soon. Monica is going to pick up her dress in another week. She is very excited.

Shaina and Jonathan have been working on their wedding also. We have a photographer and flower lady. Shai has rooms blocked off at the Grand Plaza, but I think she has a listing of surrounding hotels also listed on her wedding site. I have been keeping an eye on flights. Peggy Legay told me to look at USA 3000 and Alliegent Air both fly directly into Tampa, which is just 20-25 minutes from St. Petersburg. What I have done in the past with flights is go to the airport I want to fly into, look at the airlines that have service there and go directly to them to see if I can find deals. It has worked for me, when going to see Shai. I am so excited it is going to be so much fun.

Finally, I want to tell you about our amazing future son-in-law and his awesome game last night against Witchita Thunder and I quote: "Horrell played against his former team for the second time this season and once again was the difference maker. The 27 year old had 37 saves in a 2-1 victory Saturday in front of an announced crowd of 4,916 at the CenturyTel Center". " Jonny is like any athlete at any level. When he starts to get some confidence, he thrives on it," Mudbugs coach Scott Muscutt said. " He made some big saves early for us and he only got better from there".

It is so nice to see good things happen to good people. Jonathan has worked hard and put his whole heart into hockey. Jude and I feel like proud parents.

Good New from Shreveport. Jonathan found out yesterday he is the second goalie for the Louisiana Mudbugs. The third goalie was traded to New Mexico. Shaina sounded very excited and relieved.

I was honored by one my students today. She asked me to attend PHS Girls Basketball Game and be introduced as her favorite teacher. How cool is that? I am so humbled by her invitation. I love Perkins.

Jude and I are attending the SMCC Hall of Fame on Sunday, Jan. 11th. Bill Myers has asked Jude to be the person who introduces him at the banquet.

Shaina and Jonathan are good. We are having a wonderful visit with them. Jonathan's team still has 3 goalies, but the bonus is Jonathan has a contract. so as of right now he is on the injured reserve list, which turned out good for us. He had time to visit with us and his parents, Greg and Miriam, while the team traveled to Texas and Mississippi. We did go to a game on the 26th at Centel Arena. The team played Corpus Cristi and there was a bench clearing brawl. Unbelievable, they had to go to a 15 minute intermission to sort the whole mess out. The end result was 4 of Jonathan's team mates were suspended 1 -4 games based on the severity of the fighting. There are about 5 different casino's in this town, We ate at the Boomtown buffet, it was so good. Lots of food. It has been a real nice visit and I am so glad we now have the time to travel to see Shaina. We have talked about wedding plans and got some things decided. I think the time will fly now till the wedding. That is it for now, just really enjoying the time alone with Jude and our visit with our favorite daughter and fiance.

Long Day

Where do I begin?. I had the perfect day planned, we leave early from home and will be in Shreveport by 11:30 am, celebrating Christmas with Shai, Jonathan, Miriam and Greg. WRONG! Jude and I got to Cleveland Hopkins at 6:25 am our flight would leave at 7:25 am. Who travels on Christmas Day? Oh yeah us and about more than a dozen people in the NW line. So now I am going to not make my flight, with trying to check in and security. No worries our flight was delayed till 8:40 am. Good, no problem. Yes problem, our connecting out of Memphis leaves at (9:50 am) so we had to find another flight out of Memphis to Shreveport. Found it, leaves at 2:40 pm. Checked in, security was a breeze. Now we wait and wait. The plane finally comes at 9:10 am, we leave at 9:40 am, get to Memphis at 11:50 am. Then we eat and wait and have to listen to this snotty teenage girl on her cell phone, talking insensibly rude and loud. Very irritating! Jude said, he would of "kicked her to the curb". The next flight was on time and we arrived in Shreveport at 4:00 pm. Now here comes an episode out of Seinfeld, I made the reservation for a car at 11:00 am but delays got us in at 4:00, so "anybody can take the reservation" but "the key is holding the reservation" Enough said! Enterprise can't hold the reservation. Our car is not there. We had to have Shai pick us up. Hopefully we have a car, later today. Fun times. Really it wasn't bad just kinda funny when you think about it. I got one scarf done, bonus. We still get to visit with the kids, so life is good. Other people in the NW line missed other flights which in turned they missed their cruises. So our story is not that bad. I think you need to have a good sense of humor and patience, when traveling. I felt sorry for the travel workers, having people yelling at them and missing Christmas with their families. Everyone have a good day. Bye for now.

Technology is good

Perkins Schools is on the ground floor of making big changes in technology and I am so proud to be apart of it. I have been at technology training for 2 days and WOW have I been amazed. I learning how to design a web page, make a movie, IDVD, slide shows and use garage band. MacBooks are so amazing. After going to these trainings I realize how technology savvy I am not, BUT I am willing to learn if someone has the patience. All the tricks I learned today, will make teaching and learning so exciting and rewarding for teachers and students.

Family update: Shai and Jonathan are in Sherevport, LA. For how long we don't know. Shai is working two jobs, Ruby Tuesdays and the bank. Jonathan is up for Player of the Week. He had a shut out win a week ago. You can vote for him on the CHL page. Bryce is still working at Firelands but looking around for something new. Monica just got done with her first semester at Ashland. Cami, is not kind to my christmas decorations or my yarn.

Refreshed and Inspired

You know how sometimes you get in a rut or doubt things or just feel like something is missing. Well this is how I have been feeling lately. But that has changed since attending a conference of Brain Based Learning with Dr. Marcia Tate. She is awesome and ROCKS. She taught us so much in one day. She inspired us to look at things differently, challenged us to change the way we teach. Use laughter, music, have positive expectations, students talking about content, students moving. It was just so re-affirming to know that I have been doing some of this stuff already. I do like music and try to sing, but then I am reminded that one of my former students always reminded me "Mrs. Roth you can't sing". This conference was time very well spent. Here is some other important information I learned and think it is worth sharing:

1. Laughter can add 8 years of life.

2. Your brain weighs 3lbs.

3. 1 neuron has 6000 dendrites

4. Stress is the no#1 reason for aging

5. The brain can hold seven isolated bits of information in short term memory

6. Music helps memory

7. Students need affirmation

8. Be more positive than negative.

9. The brain remembers when a lesson has activity attached to it.

10. Teaching is fun!!!

It has been a loooong time since my last post

Yes we are all still alive in the Roth homestead. School has started and it seems the days just fly by. Perkins is getting ready to switch to the Mac system and I am apart of the technology committee that is helping with this process. It is so exciting and I am getting to know more staff this way. I am still knitting but having some difficulties with my shrug. I have been able to get down to just one or two projects going on at the same time. I have also come to the conclusion that Zoey needs to go back to school. She thinks she is the alpha, so we need to adjust that a little. She seems to be a little to attached to me, especially at night. So when Jude comes near me, she growls at him and nips at him if he tries to touch me. I find it quite sweet but Jude is not liking it that much!!!

Shai and Jonathan are in the process of packing and getting ready to move. Jonathan has camp the end of the month, then we will know. We are just very happy , that Jonathan will be able to play the sport he loves. Shai doesn't mind moving and is very organized.

Things are good

A Cami is doing well. We had a small scare a week ago but everything worked out for her. She has a tendency to try and get into the garbage. And corn and Cami do not mix.

Shaina was home for a week and we had a wonderful visit with her. I was able to get some family pictures done. Here is one that I liked. Otherwise I am getting ready to go back to school with bells on. It is going to be an exciting year, with many good things to come for Perkins Schools. Everyone have a great week. It's going to be a hot one, just in time for school, YEAH!!!(that was me being sarcastic)

Cami is home

Here is Cami and her dad. She looks SO much better than she did on Thursday. She is home, but quarentined within the house. We have to watch the other two, but I am confident they will be okay. They are up to date with shots, but anything can happen. Cami is on a special diet for a couple of days, but gobbles up her food very fast, She is peppy and looks good. She has lost some weight, but I think in no time she will be back to her original weight in no time.

So thanks for the prayers, everyone.

In other news, Shai is home in 6 days. We have lots of things to get done. Get a price on rooms for the wedding. Fit a bridesmaid. Find centerpieces. Otherwise Jonathan and Shai are in charge of making the decisions. I am so impressed with them both on how they are working together on their wedding. I am just watching from the sidelines.

I only have 2 weeks of summer vacation. This summer went fast. We have been fortunate to go out in Rick and Kim's boat a couple times this summer. Here are some pictures from the last trip to Kelley's with them, Mom and Roger . It was a beautiful evening, but when we were leaving a storm was kicking up on the lake.

Bryce and Monica's little puppy has Parvo. It happened so fast. Wednesday she was a happy go lucky puppy and the next day she refused to eat and drink and was getting sick. I am dumbfounded. It's August

It seems that June and July was very quiet but August is filled with lots of things to do. I am anticipating going back to school and I can say I can't wait! Moving to Perkins has been such a positive move for me. I have come to realize how much I like HS students, which is pretty amazing for me. I always like the little dudes a lot. The Language program has gotten lots of great reviews from parents and teachers. Western Reserve teachers came to school to talk to me about the program and now are ready to jump right in to the program for their kiddos. So I have to say Perkins did a nice job finding a program for their students.

I have a conference in Toledo 3 days next week on assessments, so I am excited to learn new things. Plus Perkins is really aggressively looking at a serious technology plan for the district. Mr. Gunner was a positive choice for Perkins.

Shaina is coming home August 16th through August 23rd. I don't think I have to say how excited we are to have her home. Jonathan is traveling to Canada for a camp. He has been busy looking for a team. He has a few possibilities.

Bryce and Mon are good. They were fortunate enough to see Obama on Tues at Baldwin Wallace. Bryce said he was 3 rows away from the stage and felt very inspired after his speech. The man is a wonderful speaker. He has lots of pictures.

Dangerous in the kitchen

Well the verdict is in, I am a danger to myself. I was cutting tomatoes and I sliced my thumb instead of the tomato. I thought it was okay, Jude said I needed stitches. Well I consulted with my sister in law and she agreed with Jude. So I did and the doc said I did a nice job and he stitched it up with 6 stitches. Well I guess that means no dishes and wash for a while, OH darn! Do you think I can get away with that. Can't blame a girl for trying.

Well the 12 month sweater is done. I can't believe it. It will be good for fall as a jacket. I just recently knitted a shawl which has many different colors. I found this neat ball of yarn at "Just for Ewe" in Marblehead. That is a very dangerous place for Henry and me. Kinda went over our limit of spending. My friends think I have a yarn fetish, YEAH! My mom has supported my knitting. She went yard sailing with Roger and stumbled on 16 skeins of yarn. Needles to say, she picked it up for me. It is pretty khaki and brown. I think I will make another shawl. I find knitting so relaxing and I enjoy it very much. It kinda replaces medication. Ha Ha. So if anyone is interested we meet at Borders every Thursday at 6:30pm. There is plenty of people to help you. Last week when we were in Borders, a young peoples church group was in having a get together. They were quite interested our knitting group. All of sudden two young men ask us to teach them. In no time Jo worked her magic and they were knitting. The young ladies said they were coming back in two weeks to knit with us. So even the young people like it. I think it would be fun to knit squares for a blanket to donate. Just a thought. Anyone interested?

Well I started my South Beach diet. I have lost 7 pounds. I increased walking to 7 days a week and trying to work on some wieghts. I would like to lose 20-25 before the weddings. I think the forties have caught up with me. I just think I would be much more comfortable and definately happier.

WOW what a wonderful trip to Wichita. Shaina and Jonathan look good. We had a 16 hour drive filled with stops for Zoey and us. We did not see any flooding, but did notice the water was high in the states we traveled thorough. Supposedly there was a tornado spotted by Topeka which is 45 minutes from Wichita, when we were there.

Here are pictures of Shai and Jonathan with their dogs Ollie and Joey. Zoey had to get into the picture, too! The dogs like taking walks around the pond, located in their apartment complex. We had great meals, nice talks and fun with Shai and Jon. They have real nice down town area, with many restaurants with patio dinning. We went to a wine and martini bar. I had this very good berry mango martini. It was tasty. Their friends got us tickets for a Minor League baseball game for the Wichita Wingnuts. It was a fun game with fireworks after the game. The team honored one of their players who use to play with the Toledo Mudhens at the same time Shaina had an internship with the team. . The big exiting news, Shai and I went wedding dress shopping and she found the gown for her. It is beautiful and you knew it was the one, when you saw her face. I was so happy Shai and I got to share that special moment. It was a memorable trip for us and it was good to see her after 6 months.

In other news, Bryce and Monica have added a puppy into their lives. Her name is Cambria, a chocolate lab. We call her Cami and she is doing very good. See her picture above.

1. Can you believe it? Jude has his 30th class reunion in August. Where has the time gone?

2. Bryce's birthday is June 16th and he will be 25 years old. Let's all remember our children are getting older not us.

3. I really loved my job At PHS this year. I really did not need a summer break. But, now that I am on vacation, I am going to enjoy reading, knitting and visiting with Shai. I have already finished my first book, The Shop on Blossom Street by Debbie MaComber. I really liked it.

4. We are leaving on Weds and I want to take Zoey. Bryce tells me I need counseling because I must be wacky to take the dog. Now you tell me how can I leave her? See the picture, isn't she adorable. Zoey is my buddy

5. Here is the picture of my sweater. I now have the sleeves on but ran out of yarn. So I have placed the order and it is on its way so I can finish the collar. I found some really pretty glass buttons. Yes it looks home- made. I did not say I was the best knitter, but I am learning.

6. Who do you believe in the Nuesse vs city manager? I want the mature adult, to step up to the plate, and admit they are wrong and fix this mess. In my opinion the men (police, commissioners and city manager) can't handle a woman being in charge. Gentlemen, it is the 21st century, lets move into it.

7. The marina district, what's up? You know it was to good to be true. You have to know the developers were only looking out for themselves.

8. And why I am on a roll. What about the Chesapeake condos? Can we all say landscaping, PLEASE and soon???

9. HOT! This heat is driving me crazy. I am getting too old for it. Yes, I know buy an air conditioner. Someone talk to Jude.

10. Although I ranted and raved the last few things on my list, everything is good, but I just had to get that out about the city stuff.

Updating on Wedding Sites

Hi Family and Friends,

I have added the wedding sites for Bryce and Monica and Jonathan and Shaina. Take a look because both the girls did a nice job. Isn't this exciting. I am counting down the days until we see Shai, 9 more days and who knows how long. I will give Jonathan a good mother law workout. Kidding Jonathan. As I have said many times to friends, we are blessed. Monica and Jonathan are wonderful people and yes we have weddings coming up, but they both are already apart of our family to Jude and I.

Tuesday June 10th will be the start of summer vacation. It has been a great first year at Perkins. It was the best move for me. As my friend has told me, "I am more relaxed and happy". I am very excited about summer break, because Jude and I are going to Wichita to visit Shai and Jonathan. It has been 6 months since we have seen Shai last. I miss her, but recently we have gotten on "Skype" and have calls on the computer where we can actually see her. It has been fun to see and talk to her.

The 12 month sweater

OMG, I am now on the sleeves, it is actually looking like a sweater. Henry and I are at the same place and we are quite pleased with ourselves. We meet with our knitting friends at Borders every Thursday evening. Each time there is about 8 -12 of us. Jo and Marsha are our knitting guru's and help us stay on track. It is soo much fun getting together with them. The cafe brings us out samples of cake and drinks. I have found a new green tea with raspberry flavoring frozen drink, it is awesome and it has a whipped cream topping. The girls working there made it up, I am telling you it is sooo good. I have found a new author to read, Debbie Macomber. It is romance but a story line with knitting involved. All the girls say she, really draws you in to the story. I can't wait i have missed reading. With work I just don't read like I would want to. Of course it is the same as knitting once you start you don't want to put it down and other things fall to the wayside. But it is almost summer break and my time to read. YAHOO!!!!! Everybody have a GREAT WEEKEND and enjoy!!!

9. I am the luckiest mom, I have two wonderful children (Bryce and Shaina), who have found two great people (Monica and Jonathan) to share their lives with.

1. I am comfortable being in my forties. I seem to be more relaxed and enjoy life.

2. I am knitting like it is my job. I say it is a stress relief but I really love it. We have a knitting group that meets on Thursday at Borders and we knit. I have met some good friends.

3. I walk 6 mornings a week at 6 AM. Henry and I have been doing this for 2 years.

Our beautiful daughter and future daughter -in-law graduated from Bowling Green last Saturday, May 3rd. Yeah for them. Shaina graduated Cum Laude with a GPA of 3.64. Shaina never liked HS but college she found her niche and worked very hard for everything she earned. She has been accepted in the National Scholars Honor Society and called this morning to tell us she has a new job with a financial planning company. WE are so proud!!

I am done with IEPs. YAHOO!! I was very happy how everything went. My parents and students are happy, so life is good. I kinda told my family that life was on hold until they were done. So life can start back up for us. We have been asked to be apart of a youth group starting this fall. We are very excited! Jude and I will do this together and explore our faith more deeply with our youth.

Jude hosted two very great events and everything went as planned. He has lots of great friends to help him out and support him, so he is very grateful. He is busy with camps and planning more events, so watch everyone the wheels are spinning.

Shaina and Monica will be graduating from BG next weekend. YEAH for them it has been a long 4 years. Shai has started interviewing for jobs very aggressively. She is a woman on a mission. Shai and Jonathan are still researching their plans for the wedding. I know they are thinking the end of May or first of June , 2009. They want a destination wedding, which I think is very romantic.

Bryce and Monica are getting married at St. Mary's. The date is Aug. 8, 2009. They are still looking for a place for the reception, which is good for both families. They will be moving to the Lorain/Cleveland area in June. Bryce and Monica will be looking for jobs in that area.

WE have lots of wonderful things happening in our lives. Officially Jude and I will be legitimate empty nesters come June. But remember we have Jack and Zoey and they keep life interesting. That's all folks!!

This inspirational quote I found inspired me and got me thinking about Marilyn. Why, because I think she passed on some wonderful ideas with all of us in her actions and words. First, family. Marylin and Eloise would always be there, for family. All we had to do is ask. If that meant babysitting, going on trips, fan support, picnics down on Shoreline Park, picking kids up at school, sharing stories about her mom and dad, and just being there for all the family. Second, LOVE, she loved her family and church very much. Third, Giving, if that meant her time, her church or family, she gave it her all.Marylin shared herself with family and we are quite blessed to have her impact on our lives. We are a simple people so not much to report. The main theme in our house is work. Jude just finished up the Junior High District and it was a great success. This does not happen without great friends who devoted time to work this past weekend. Jude writes:

The OAC and I are most grateful for your generosity. The tournament ran extremely well and there have been many compliments sent to me via email and on wrestling internet message boards. On another note, although I do not expect any of you to be available for helping with the Grade School Tournament in two weeks if you are able or planning on working this event, please let me know ASAP! We now have the Grade School the end of the month. No rest for the weary. I keep telling my husband my state tournament is coming up, with the IEP season on my heels. These are educational plans for my students. It is like writing a 3 to 4 page essays about my kids with goals for the next school year. It is the only way I think he will understand how important it is for me, if I compare it to wrestling.

Shai and Jonathan are in Wichita. The hockey season is almost done. I think Jonathan needs a break. Shai is working at the bank and they said they would give her a leave of absence so she can come home and finish her last 2 classes at BG in the first summer session. Then maybe we can start making plans for their wedding. I am so excited for them. Oh yes, they just adopted a new dog. His name is Brady Joe

Bryce and Monica are talking about moving to Cleveland. Bryce is starting to apply for jobs in the area. Mon will graduate in May. How exciting for them. Monica is on the final countdown for school being done. They are talking about grad school.

I just feel we are blessed. We are so proud of Bryce, Shaina, Monica and Jonathan. We are family. It feels so nice to say that, because Monica and Jonathan complete our family.

Well I must sign off, cause Zoey wants my attention. And you know, "it is all about Zoey"

Catching up

Work ,work and more work. It seems Jude is really busy with his job and spends many hours on the computer. He is a computer hog. Junior High State is right around the corner. So I do not get post as much and I would like. Things are busy at school, parent teacher conferences, extra meetings, IEP's around the corner and science tests to modify. But as I said before, I really Love my new job. I have a great support from the other intervention teachers and the students are great. Plus I have my Zoey to relieve any stress.Henry and I are taking a knitting class at Sandusky High. I am almost done with knitting my sweater and purse. Now i just have to felt it. Knitting is my obsession right now. Also, Henry, Pammy and I still walk in the morning. They are so much fun. But we are starting to be a little more timid about the weather. For example, Monday, way to COLD for me. I really want to do more 5k walks this spring and summer. That is my goal.

Bryce is working long stressful hours. I don't think he realizes what an impact he makes. It is a thankless job. Monica comes to see us every other weekend, so it's nice having her around. Monica is a real treasure and we love her a lot.

Shai and Jonathan moved into their own apartment. Ollie was sick for a few days, but is doing much better. Shai started her new job today at the bank and still is taking BG classes online. Jonathan's team has been doing a lot of trading, so maybe things will be looking up for the Thunder. Boy I miss those two!

Jack and Zoey are still adjusting not having Zeke around. Zoey is quite fiesty lately. But she is quite the love bug.

Good and Bad News

Well, we got wonderful news that our nephew is home from Iraq. It is so wonderful how good news travel thorough our blogs. We are so excited for Jackie to have her husband back in her arms. Other news, Jonathan is now the main goalie for his team and Shai is happy living in Wichita, taking classes and on the brink of getting a job in Witchita. So lots of good news

Now the bad news, at our home we have had a big blow to our family. Jude works at home. Today, Zeke our dog collapsed at home and couldn't move. Jude was able to get him to the vet. Our beloved dog, Zeke, had a stroke and we found out he had a tumor in his abdomen. So we had to make a tough decision to make. Zeke couldn't walk and was not acting like we know him, So Jude and I held him close while the Dr. put him to sleep. We believe he is is no pain and more comfortable. We remember his feisty "all about me attitude", but mostly he was such a loving dog. We feel sad right now and a huge void around the house. Jack and Zoey are little confused. So, every body give your dogs, extra hug for us and appreciate their companionship.

Well, where to start.Shai dropped the bomb of moving to Witchita over the phone 2 days before she was to come home. We had her come home to talk it over and work out all the loose ends. AS I have told her before the "squeaky wheel gets oiled" She was able to pull off having BG accept her last two classes being completed at Witchita State. Plus two classes she will take online through BG. so she will graduate on time in May. So she packed up her bags and moved To Witchita( 13 hours away). But I must let go and I did. As it worked out she was home for her Dad's Hall of Fame induction. It was a wonderful day and I was so proud of Bryce's introduction and as alwasy very proud to be Jude's wife. His speech was very good and brought us to tears at the end. He had a moving toast to the two men he misses very much: his Dad "Dale"Butch" Roth and Jim Stookey. Two wonderful people who blessed and touched our lives. Below are some nice pictures that captured the day. Congratulations Jude (sweetie) we are very proud of you. Witcita Visit

Hi Everyone from Witchita! WOW it is so nice here. It is a nice town.It is one of the top ten best cities to live in and #1 least expensive places to live. It is in the building mode, filled with lots of shopping and wonderful places to eat. WE have eaten so healthy here. When the offer you sides you can have steamed veggies, instead of fries. Go figure. There is two awesome deli's here, Jason's and Manchester's. Good food. We have seen two hockey games and tonight we see another tonight for New Years Eve. What is even better Jonathan will be the goalie. GO THUNDER! Jude and I have learned about hockey with Greg's help. We have anew respect for the game. It is even better when you know the players. I am going to take lots of pictures of our future son in law, with my new camera. WE had a two great meals at the Red Rock Canyon Grill. You know how it is when something so good you go back. We had dinner with Jonathan's parents(Greg & Miriam), Mark & Stephanie, Chris & Natalie (Jonathan & Shai's friends & team mates) to toast Jonathan and Shaina's engagement. It was a great night, filled with lots of laughs, great food and toasts. Greg, made Shai and me cry with such a touching toast. I didn't want the evening to end. I have been doing lots of observing of Shaina and she is so happy and in love with Jonathan. They belong together. What is even better he gets Shai. They have thought everything out. Jonathan is very good about researching things out. They know they need to wait until the summer 2009 (July) to get married. Shai wants to get a good start on grad school, make some money and be able to make good decisions she and Jonathan want for their special day. I adored Jonathan before but meeting his parents and being here I am totally taken with him and know he is the gentleman that Shaina belongs with. Greg and Miriam are the greatest. Miriam is so funny and we have become fast friends. She is very petite,beautiful and a wonderful sense of humor. Greg is so generous and you can tell by his interactions with Jonathan, how much respect Jonathan has for his father. I have always thought you can tell a lot about a young man, by watching how he treats his mother and Jonathan and his mom are so neat together. They tease each other very lovingly. It has been a great visit. I think you can tell with all my gushing about our families, trip and Shaina and Jonathon's wonderful news.

WOW, Christmas is almost here and I have so much to finish up. so today is marathon day. Sorry Heidi that does not mean I am running. I thought I was ahead of the game but not true. Cookies are not done, cards are not being sent. so Happy Holidays from us. New job, tutoring and staying up with laundry for four adults to much for me. And if you read my last post I am very consumed with my job, which I LOVE, just busy. It is hard to believe it is going this fast. You can tell you are getting older when you children start spending more time away during holidays with their boyfriend and girlfriend. But that is OK it is part of the process of life. Plus bonus, we have two new wonderful people in our lives and I cherish and love them both very much. As a mom you daydream what you want for your kids and what you think the need and deserve(cause they are two wonderful adults) and suddenly the introduce you to who they have chosen and you just say YAHOO jackpot! We are blessed in so many ways, family who are there to help us through the rough times, family who love us, my girlfriends( who are my therapy each day at 6:00 am walking), two jobs we love, two loving,great, compassionate and hard working children Bryce and Shaina. They are now adults. Our other two family members Jonathan, Monica. We did not have to move away from family TO PA . My new cuddle pal Zoey. The zoo Jack and Zeke, new addition Oliver (although I am enjoying the fact my ornaments are staying on the tree, with Ollie visiting Jonathan). Being married to a awesome, loving, my best friend and my husband, Jude. I can't say it enough Life is good! Take care to all, enjoy the holiday and all the special moments it will bring.

Shopping

O my gosh, went to K and K, lots of people and so much neat ideas. I should of learned from the last 2 times I went, BRING a cart! I felt very good about containing my self to a few things. They had great inspirational stuff., I bought 2 wreaths and two wicker stacking boxes. All in all good day. Shai and I went to a purse party, not good. Needles today I went a little over board. I think I am well on my way to getting done earlier this year, YAHOO! Zoey got a Christmas t shirt today. Shel looks to cute. Let's just say Jude was not impressed. We attempted to get all the dogs by the tree, but that did not work out as planned. Shai is counting the days until she leaves to be with Jonathan. Jude and I will be flying to Wichita the 26th to Jan 1st. I am so excited to be able to go somewhere over Christmas break. We have been unable to do this for a long time, due to wrestling commitments. Although I should have opted for warmer temps. But we will get some time with Jonathan and his parents. Sounds like lots of fun.

Catching Up

Well, it has been busy at school, with parent teacher conferences. We moved moving Shai home. It is weird having four adults back home but we are doing good. I have enjoyed having this time with Shai and our shopping adventures. Plus Jude and I need help with the four dogs. They are so much fun and work but make you laugh. Thanksgiving was great. We spent the day with the Opfers and they invited my mom. We had a lot to eat and played games, it was a very enjoyable day. The rest of the weekend was very relaxing. I have been planning a unit for the students. I totally recommend this book "the curious incident of the dog in the night-time" It is a wonderful book of a young man with autism. I think it will be a great learning tool for HS kids.

I would just like to add that our thoughts and prayers are with two brave young men Jude and I know, John Schriener and Ben Smith they are currently over in Iraq. Thank you for protecting us and caring so much about your country. You both are very special and we admire your dedication. Thanks guys.

He is a cutie but he beats up on my Zoey, so next weekend when he comes to stay, I am going to teach him some obedience. He must know I am in control. It was a busy day, obeidence school in the morning. Traveling to BG to help Shai pack up some things. She is moving home. Life is good!! Oh yeah did I tell you I did not recognize my own son, wow that is scary. He drove up to Shai's apartment, with his hat to the side, looking all cool. As I tell my students, I have sometimers. Sometimes I remember and some I just don't know! Tonight we went out with Julie and Ed, Shanon and Jerry and JoAnn and Jim. We went to the Thirsty Pony and had some very good pizza. We came home listened to the hockey game. YEAH!! The Wichta Thunder won!! 3-0. I started this blog. I can't make any promises that I will do very well with daily posts but I will try my best.
